Or just another toy for rich people to pretend to be race car drivers?

I can get with that livery. That’s a delicious shade of orange too.

If you think about it, if you’re going to dump millions into the R&D for a GTE car you might as well reap from the sunk cost. The fact that they released Monocage III for the Senna was a dead giveaway compared to Monocage II already found in the 720S. Since the core components of the car are already spoken for you can then adjust some of the performance aspects as needed. At 1283kg dry the 720S is already at the ballpark for minimum weight for GT3/E.
While some of the aero will probably be seen on the 720S GT3, I expect the majority of the work to be mechanical. The most intriguing aspect of the Senna GTR is that it presumably keeps the Graziano DCT, which has more or less remained unchanged since the 12C/650S, instead of a true motorsport box.

Technically, not the former, but it’s hard not to see where McLaren is taking this. At least for me. Ditto with the JZA90 Supra.

It looks fantastic, which is why I want to see it on the grid with the Ferrari 488, Ford GT, and Corvette! There’s so much money being wasted on these track day toys that could be going into real racing!
I mean, I know that race cars are toys too, but at least they’re serious toys.
